Jonathan Nigel Moore was born June 19, 1984, in Raleigh, NC. While channel surfing at the
age of nine Nigel stumbled upon an episode of “ Style with Elsa Klensch” on CNN featuring
Isaac Mizrahi’s fall 1994 collection. It was at the moment Nigel realized he was destined to
become a fashion designer. He immediately began sketching mini collections and later
taking fashion classes in high school.
Nigel was accepted at Savannah College of Art and Design and graduated in 2007.
After graduating SCAD Nigel entered his S/S 2009 collection for Charleston fashion week
emerging designer contest. Nigel’s 10-look runway showed debuted collection,
then called JNM was selected as a Semi-finalist at CFW. Three months later Nigel showed his sophomore Fall / Winter 2009 collection during Plitz’s Charlotte Fashion Week.
Shortly after Nigel relocated to New York and immediately began as the design intern for Wes Gordon. A few months later Nigel began interning as a pattern intern at Zac Posen and soon after
hired as the assistant designer at Wes Gordon. Nigel has since been an assistant designer
for Tommy Hilfiger collection, Harare and other private labels.
The inception of JNIGEL brand started in 2012 shortly after assistant designing for
Wes Gordon. Nigel chose his initial from his first name Jonathan and middle name Nigel for
the JNIGEL”namesake, design and created a 10-piece collection for his Fall / Winter collection.
He debuted the collection during an independently funded presentation in New York.
The collection garnered the attention of other designer labels in the fashion industry and Nigel
was hired to design for private labels. Nigel returned to his namesake label in 2017 after several
years as an assistant and lead designer for multiple brands. Pieces from his F/W I became
available to the public for pre-sale through Designow. Nigel collaborated with emerging film
director William Nawrocki and photographer Haley Varacallo to create an editorial campaign
and mini fashion film for the F/W I collection. Shortly after the photographs were picked up
by Scuro where they wrote the first feature article about the brand.
In 2018 , for the S/S II Nigel again collaborated with Haley and William in upstate
New York for ad-campaign and fashion film "10/6" featuring the Spring / Summer II collection.
The film written & produced by Nigel will debut in 2019 and is being considered for fashion film
festivals in Chicago, LA, London, and Berlin. Nigel also debuted the 10 look S/S II collection in
October during Fashion Week Brooklyn (FW/BK).
